Matthews, NC | An AARP Age-Friendly City
Did you know that Matthews was the first city in North Carolina to be designated as an AARP Age-Friendly City? According to AARP, this means “the community's elected leadership has made the commitment to actively work toward making their town, city, county or state a great place to live for people of all ages.”
Matthews is dedicated to ensuring the town is an inclusive and accessible environment for people of all life stages and abilities and is developing an action plan to address the needs of all residents.
Walden Austin Village is just across the line from Matthews (and even has a Matthews address!), so residents can take advantage of living in a community that is accessible and accommodating to active adults. Additionally, residents can take advantage of benefits of low maintenance living at home with perks like lawn care, gutter cleaning, and main level living.
